What this MR does and why?
This merge request introduces comprehensive documentation for integrating Grafana Tempo with OpenTrace. As an Early Access feature, this guide provides users with step-by-step instructions to connect their Tempo instances, enabling the analysis of distributed traces and the visualization of service relationships within OpenTrace.

Key Changes
The changes focus on adding and updating documentation files to ensure a seamless user experience for the new integration.

  • New Documentation File:

    • docs/integrations/tempo.md: A new, detailed guide covering prerequisites, setup for self-hosted and Kubernetes environments, API connection, data synchronization details, permissions, and security best practices.
  • Modifications to Existing Files:

    • docs/integrations/index.md: Updated the main integrations page to include Grafana Tempo, marking it as "Early Access" and specifying the "API Key" authentication method.
    • mkdocs.yml: Updated the navigation sidebar to add a link to the new "Grafana Tempo (Early Access)" documentation under the "Integrations" section.

How to Review

  1. Check out this branch.
  2. Build the documentation locally.
  3. Verify that the new Grafana Tempo documentation renders correctly and is accessible from the main integrations page and the navigation sidebar.
  4. Review the content of docs/integrations/tempo.md for clarity, accuracy, and completeness.

Impact Assessment

  • Security: The documentation highlights security best practices, including the principle of least privilege by using read-only access, which minimizes potential security risks.
  • Performance: As these changes are limited to documentation, there is no direct impact on application performance. The guide includes troubleshooting tips for performance-related integration issues.
  • Maintainability: The new documentation adheres to our existing style and structure, ensuring consistency and ease of future maintenance.

Review Summary

  • Key Findings: The documentation is comprehensive, well-structured, and aligns with our existing integration guides.
  • Approval Status: Approved.
